Dear Friends,
If we’ve learned anything about our country over the past few months, it’s that the leadership we want in Washington starts in our own communities.
We’ve also learned in Illinois that special interests can isolate our leaders and only the grassroots keep us grounded. This campaign will be successful if individuals come together on its behalf.
Where we raise our children, go to work and enjoy friendships is not about geography, but about our shared values. We seek leaders who reflect those values. That’s why I’m running for Congress.
The people of Illinois deserve leadership that makes them proud. We are the Land of Lincoln. We are the city of the Big Shoulders. We are the people who gathered in Grant Park the night America elected its first African-American President.
Because our communities need a strong and experienced hand in Congress, and because we owe our children a world that offers opportunities even better than our own, I’m asking for your support. Preserving our values and moving our communities forward will take everyone’s help. Please stand with me.
After volunteering on President-elect Obama’s campaign, I feel called to serve again. Our country faces historic challenges, and my experience in the Federal government and in the private sector gives me the unique ability to develop and implement effective and sustainable solutions. And, just like after 9/11 when I worked in the Department of Homeland Security, I am eager to return to Washington, this time with the honor of representing Illinois in the U.S. House of Representatives.
I look forward to meeting with you to talk about the challenges in our communities, our nation, and the world, and how we can work together to solve them.
Sincerely,
Justin P. Oberman
Candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives
